The Walter Fischli Foundation
Music and science are closely linked and share intuition and creativity. Both fields are all about developing new ideas and crossing boundaries. These common elements make them fascinating and closely related areas of human knowledge and expression. Indeed, there are famous examples of scientific luminaries who were also deeply rooted in music.
Walter Fischli himself holds a doctorate in science and is a passionate musician who lives this personal fascination. We want to keep this fascination alive through our foundation.
Our history
The Walter Fischli Foundation (WFF) was established December 9, 2010 with the aim of promoting exceptional projects and talents in science and music. From the very beginning, WFF has worked together with well-known institutions such as the University of Basel and Empa St. Gallen in the field of science, or the Basel Musik-Akademie (Music Academy Basel), the Gstaad Menuhin Festival and the “Förderkreis Kammermusik Schweiz” (Swiss Chamber Music Association) in the field of music.
Our purpose
The Walter Fischli Foundation supports the higher education of talented people in science and music, as well as projects in both fields. The foundation is a non-profit organization and does not serve any commercial purpose.
Our procedure
Grants are always awarded to Swiss institutions (universities, institutes) to fund candidates or projects of their choice. The institutions are selected by the Walter Fischli Foundation.
